Windward-Going-Through Traverse

·         The Windward-Going-Through is the channel that connects the Caicos Banks in the south to the reefs and sheltered lagoon. It essentially separates Middle and East Caicos and is approximately 5 miles long.

·         The northern mouth of this channel flows either side of a small island called Dickish Cay and is actually blocked from East Caicos here by Joe Grant’s Cay.

·         It is an exceptionally beautiful part of the archipelago and the ‘traverse’ connects the sand bars and beaches across these cays.

·         It is possible to do this walk as a day trip from Provo but like many of Amphibious’ Adventures in this area a night or two spent on Middle Caicos allows for more extensive & relaxed exploration.

·         It is necessary to walk through the water in places. The depth will depend on the tide and migration of the sand bars. Ideally it is never more than knee deep but come prepared to get wet. Amphibious can provide dry bags for cameras and such like.

·         The beaches and hues are stunning. If you make it all the way to Joe Grant’s Cay it is worth climbing the bluff to see the small ruined building and memorable views in all directions.
