| CONSERVATION
The Turks and Caicos have limited natural resources. The total land mass is a mere 154 square miles, the underwater landscape, to a depth of 200ft, adds another 200 sq miles. The marine world is the life blood of the islands comprising the bulk of its geologic make up and traditionally providing the majority of its food. The history of the islands is varied and fascinating and the heritage of this is in a fragile state. The conservation of both the natural and man-made world is essential to the future of the Turks and Caicos.
As the population increases and the islands become more popular as a tourist destination is it paramount that a balance is struck between utilizing the resources and maintaining them for future generations. Below are some interesting links and summations of the efforts and bodies involved in this agenda.
